Placing earned-media op-eds is increasingly challenging and competitive as fewer outlets accept them. Still, it remains a reasonable goal to work toward placing such pieces occasionally. Even when not published externally, these pieces can be used on LinkedIn and on your website and in newsletters, helping shape the firm's top ideas that can be repurposed for other tactics.
Q&As
Repurposing content across multiple channels is an efficient way of diversifying our strategy. That includes using transcripts of webinars to create Q&As that can be posted on social media and elsewhere. For example, we take a webinar and boil it down to a lead paragraph, the top 3-4 questions and answers, and a tight conclusion.
Micro analysis videos for social media
Making original, short videos reflecting your firm’s top ideas, at times using video snippets from webinars, and creating an associated micro analysis (think Axios/Politico) that can be shared on socials and elsewhere.
Micro analyses via email to media
While earned media has also become challenging due to overworked reporters and a whack-a-mole news cycle, providing timely microanalyses via email is a resource-light building block to bettering media relations and broader profile. These analyses are typically a handful of bullet points and/or perhaps one to two paragraphs providing reporters with a succinct analysis on trending news and other topics.
This could lead to reporters copying and pasting analyses for articles, asking for interviews and seeing your firm’s thought leaders as important additions to the shortlists of experts they rely upon when on deadline on important stories.
